10 celebrities who lead refreshingly normal lives
We usually see celebrities sashaying down red carpets or striking their best pose for the cover of a magazine. After that, newspapers are constantly littered with scandalous tales of debauched lifestyles far removed from us more lowly folk. So it's refreshing to discover that some celebrities are not the spoiled superstars that we're led to believe and yes, they do take the subway, walk their kids to school or go shopping in malls make-up and body guard-free!
1. Rihanna
She'll happily take center stage when it comes to her job, but Rihanna also has an endearing down to Earth side. She's often spotted on the subway, is happy to post make-up free photos of herself or snaps of her hanging out with her brother. She doesn't mind if people see her flaked out on a couch in front of the TV, trying her best to cook a decent meal and generally doing what any normal girl does.
2. Anne Hathaway
Hathaway's an A-lister who often uses the subway when she needs to get around New Jersey. She's known to be really polite and is a doting mom. Some people still have images of her being a diva, which admittedly she was when she was first thrust into the spotlight, but she's grown up and shaken off her party lifestyle and image.

The E.T. star grew up in the world of showbiz and, just like many child celebrities, has had her ups and downs. But Drew has always managed to face her demons and today she's a family-focused woman who's toned down her lifestyle. We often see her make-up free or with unkempt hair - all part and parcel of being a naturally beautiful and simple woman at heart.
4. Dakota Fanning
Despite having 16 million dollars in the bank and a 16-year career under her belt, Dakota Fanning's never lost touch with reality. We don't see her falling out of nightclubs or wrecking marriages and she even continued her studies long after she first hit our screens. She's famous for knitting scarves for her co-stars and yes, she too often prefers the subway to a chauffeur-driven limo!
5. Michael Douglas
Despite being part of a Hollywood dynasty, Michael Douglas is actually quite discreet and is known for his sense of self-irony. When asked about his talents he once replied that he was good at changing nappies and he's often seen taking his daughter to school on the subway just like any other city dad.
6. Katie Holmes
A Hollywood career and high-profile marriage to Tom Cruise hasn't stopped Katie Holmes from leading a normal New-Yorker lifestyle. She's often snapped on the subway (including shots of her dozing off), grabbing a coffee and wandering around the Big Apple make-up free without a gaggle of assistants seeing to her every need.

True, Lopez always looks glamorous, even when taking the subway, and we know she follows a very healthy lifestyle, but Jenny from the Block doesn't shy from her responsibilities and is famous for her charity work. She may be fussy, but not in a diva sense - she's an ambitious woman who's worked extremely hard all her life.
8. Paul Wesley
He may be world-famous and the stuff of fantasy for many a fan, but Paul Wesley prefers the simple pleasures in life. He likes to play hockey, strum on his guitar, go snowboarding or hanging out with his family. You're more likely to bump into him in a cafe or on the subway rather than a glitzy nightclub!

Zooey Deschanel could easily have turned out to be a total diva with famous parents and a string of celebrity boyfriends. Thankfully she's not and is usually seen wearing high street brands, travelling in economy class, watching old movies, buying from vintage clothes shops and going about her day make-up free.
