10 secrets spilled by McDonald’s employees
Mc Donald's are everywhere. A major global player, this American fast food chain has managed to seduce billions of customers with its burgers and fries. But what lurks behind the smiling clown? Here's some insider information, straight from the mouths of McDonald's employees...
How to make sure you get crispy fries, why some burgers take longer to prepare than others... Just browse through this list of tips and tricks designed to make your next trip an extra tasty experience.
1. To have 'fresher' fries, order them without salt
Fed up with soft, soggy fries? Next time order them without salt. Why? Because they'll need to cook a fresh batch! You'll have to wait an extra minute or so, but you'll get a nice crispy serving. Plus you can always ask for a sachet of salt to sprinkle over them once you've got your order.

2. Filet-O-fish are freshly prepared
Filet-O-Fishes are freshly prepared, partly because fewer people tend to order them and pre-preparing them could result in waste - and wasted products means less profit! So good news if you're a fish fan, although it has to be said that Mc Donald's employees find them time-consuming to prepare.

3. No, employees don't get free food
When someone joins the McDonald's team, they're awarded points that are deducted every time they eat a meal or snack. Each dish costs a pre-set number of points. The only advantage employees have is if they get on well with the kitchen staff, they can ask the cooks to rustle up something special! However, whether they get to eat any leftover food at the end of the day is a different matter!

4. The numbers on the racks refer to how long a burger has been sitting there
You may well have noticed a written or flashing number on the racks where prepared burgers are lined up. This refers to the amount of time they've been sitting there. By referring to the number you can always refuse a burger if you think it may be cold!

5. You can't ask for your meat to be cooked in a particular way
All McDonald's meat is cooked at 69°C. The reason? Meat needs to be cooked at 69° to ensure all bacteria are killed - this is public health issue that McDonald's is obliged to respect.

7. Don't believe the gossip!
McDonald’s runs a rigid 'production' line. So, don't pay attention to stories about employees spitting on burgers or doing any other nasty stuff - they're rushed off their feet and have better things to do!

8. Working at McDonalds can be a painful job
Injuries happen, particularly burns. If you watch employees, you'll see them doing a range of tasks - working at the till, preparing ice-creams and cooking up fries. The result? Hot fat = burned fingers!
9. Smile - it could be worth your while!
Yes, it's a fast food chain and employees come out with the same old questions ("do you want large or small fries?" etc.), but it's important to remember that they're human beings who work long hours. They have to deal with difficult customers just like the rest of us. So even if you're feeling impatient, give them a smile - you never know, they could offer you some extra sauce for free!

10. McDonald’s is a global chain and menus are adapted to suit each country
Fast food chains are used to providing meals adapted to different countries and regions and McDonald's is no exception. This can extend to using locally-sourced ingredients. Even the McDonalds logo changes! In most countries it's the familiar yellow and red sign, but in France, for example, it's yellow and green in order to create an eco-friendly image. Plus you won't find Ronalds dotted around the place - the clown was removed as kids found it too scary!

Bonus: No, burgers don't contain anti-emetics!
If you see a strange patch on your bun it's not an anti-emetic and just means the bread was frozen. Plus McDonalds would be legally obliged to declare the inclusion of anti-emetics in their food!
