11 little secrets hidden throughout the episodes of “The Walking Dead”! Which one makes you think your eyes are playing tricks on you?
Here's a list identifying all the references that have been secretly slipped into the episodes! You may be surprised!
1. Biblical references
In one of the show’s scenes, you can see Rick entering a church where the wooden sign display some numbers. Well, did you realize that these numbers are actually references to Bible verses?
2. Mr. White’s blue meth!
In season one, in a bag of Merle’s medicine, you can see at the bottom, there are some crystals of blue meth exactly like those made by Walter White in “Breaking Bad”!
3. Time
The watches and clocks denote the season and episode the scene is a part of!
4. The badge on Rick's jacket
On the badge that Rick wears in Alexandria, you can read the phrase "We will rise again" – which is also the Governor’s favorite phrase!
5. There are a few "British" actors in the cast!
Indeed, in the show, Rick (played by Andrew Lincoln), Maggie (played by Lauren Cohan), and The Governor (played by David Morrissey) are all three British!
6. Morley cigarettes
This fictional cigarette brand "Morley" appeared in “The X-Files”, and then the same cigarettes can be seen being smoked by Jesse Pinkman, and finally they’re here again in Daryl’s hands!
7. The word "zombie" is never said.
Indeed, you’ll never hear a character say the word "zombie" in the show. Each group uses different names for them.
8. Comics
Other magazines like Super Dinosaur and Wolf Fight are also hidden in episodes, always with reference to the author of the comics series, Robert Kirkman!
9. The Dodge Challenger SRT8 that Glenn borrowed!
In “Breaking Bad”, Mr. White gives this beautiful car to his disabled son, and in an episode of “The Walking Dead”, the famous red Dodge Challenger is present again!
10. The comics of Robert Kirkman
Robert Kirkman is actually the author of the graphic novel “The Walking Dead” and the producers have slipped in a few nods to the author, who also wrote the comic "Invincible" that you may notice in some episodes!
11. References to the movie Dawn of the Dead
Zack Snyder's movie Dawn of the Dead, which was released in 2004, was a great inspiration for the show’s creators, as you can see in the picture above!
