13 hidden references that no one knows about in your favorite movies
“Easter eggs” are little nods directors make to pay tribute to a movie, game, book, or character that had an impression on them. Here’s a list that brings together the best hidden references in movies.
1. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has a reference to the film Batman.
Tim Burton directed both films. In the factory, the workers make a toothpaste called “Smilex.” This is the name of the poison that the Joker wants to kill the residents of Gotham with in Batman.
2. Raiders of the Lost Ark has a reference to the movie Star Wars: Episode 4.
The two droids C-3PO and R2-D2 are engraved in the hieroglyphics. Of course, Georges Lucas was the director of the two films.
3. Star Wars: Episode 1 has a reference to the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Some space capsules that were in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey are in the background in this scene from the film.
4. Back to the Future 2 has a reference to the film Back to the Future.
Some of the objects from the first movie are for sale in the window (Marty’s jean jacket, as well as his JVC camcorder).
5. Toy Story 3 has a reference to the film Wall-E.
The company named "Buy n Large" in Wall-E is also the company that made the batteries for "Buzz Lightyear".
6. Big Hero 6 has a reference to Frozen.
There’s a statue of Prince Hans in the movie Big Hero 6.
7. Star Trek Into Darkness has a reference to the movie Star Wars.
The famous R2-D2 is in this scene.
8. Man of Steel has a reference to the movie Batman.
In the background of this scene, you can see a Batman poster for a split second.
9. Charlie’s Angels has a reference to the film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
In this scene, a poster and an E.T. figurine can be seen, as well as the alien’s favorite candy. Also note that the scene is shot in the same setting as in E.T.
10. Fight Club has a reference to the film Seven Years in Tibet.
A marquis showing the title Seven Years in Tibet is featured in the film Fight Club. Brad Pitt is an actor in both films.
11. Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion has a reference to the film Pulp Fiction.
In the background, there’s a billboard for a pack of “Red Apple” cigarettes. These cigarettes were used in the movie Pulp Fiction.
12. Jurassic Park has a reference to the film Jaws.
On the computer, you can see a clip from Jaws. Spielberg directed both movies.
13. Rango has a reference to the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Rango crashes on the windshield of the convertible, while crossing the path of Duke and Gonzo from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
