22 objects that have well and truly stood the test of time
There's no stopping time... No matter what we do, we can't turn back the clock and our world, like our bodies, also gets 'worn'. Most of the time we simply throw away objects that have been used to within an inch of their life or replace items that have lost their gleamy shine. And that's where this interesting list of oddities comes in...
Here are 22 things that have not only stood the test of time, but have even more 'character' when you consider their years of use and the traces of the past that have been left behind!
1. This wooden floor has permanent footprints left by a Buddhist monk who's prayed at this very spot for over 20 years
Buddhist monks pray several times a day. Hua Chi used to pray between 2,000 and 3,000 times a day. Nowadays he's reduced it to 1,000 times, but that's still one helluva lot of praying!
2. Guess how many layers of paper have been pasted on to this! If you're looking for 'flyer heaven', this has to be it.
3. Copper-base alloyed coins that have corroded over time
4. The statue of Juliet in Verona
According to local legend, if you touch Juliet's chest you'll find eternal love. So many people touched her chest that the statue was left damaged to the point that after having stood in the park between 1972 and 2014, it was finally replaced by a replica.
5. A 20 year-old Pocahontas glass next to a new one
Yes, believe it or not, Pocahontas hit movie theaters 22 years ago in 1995... How time flies!
6. A pipe that's been rusting away for 15 years
7. Teddy Bears!

8. The steps that climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa
Here's what 500 years of people trekking up and down these stairs has done!
9. Used notes
A nice, flat, smooth pile of money compared to notes that have been fingered and counted over the years.

12. A glasses case
No, it's not a trendy 'streaky bacon' design, but just someone's favorite glasses case.
13. A carpet that leads to a sofa
Laid in the 70's, this carpet literally shows the passage of time
14. A restaurant floor
The exact spot where orders are taken in a restaurant that opened its doors in 1924. Proof that the food must be really good!
15. An urban facade
The jaw-dropping difference between this New York building's pre and post-cleaned facade!

We love the way stirred teaspoons have engraved a flower-like pattern on the bottom of this mug!
17. Where a rug used to sit
If you put a rug down in a sunny room and leave it for years, this what you'll find the day you decide to take it up!
18. A coffee table
A table that was used for playing dominoes
19. The marble floor in a bank
An ode to all the customers who waited patiently (or impatiently!) at the bank tellers' counters!
20. A tetherball post
If you've never played tetherball, it's basically a game for two players who try to hit a volleyball attached to a post in opposing directions. The game ends when one player manages to wind the ball all the way around the pole so that it's stopped by the rope or chain.
21. A shaving brush
A 30 year-old shaving brush next to a new one.
22. Doors
This door has got so worn that you can see its previous layers of paint.
