The visible structures are monitored and directed by the country's security services. But this is only the visible part of the iceberg, because deep within the mountain itself is FEMA’s center of operations. The Norwegians are planning ahead. In fact, inside a mountain on the island of Spitsbergen, at a depth of 120 meters, there’s a very special space. It’s a tunnel where a constant temperature of -18° C and a reduced humidity level is maintained, controlled by an automated system. This infrastructure would house some humans in the event of a cataclysmic catastrophe, in order to keep our species alive. But that's not all: seed containers from all over the world are also kept to help preserve our agricultural heritage. No one is allowed to enter it, so that our chances of survival remain intact.

The Amazon jungle has been inhabited for thousands of years by native Americans. Many tribes still live there, totally in harmony with nature and cut off from the outside world. Only a few aerial photographs prove that these villages do exist. The Vale do Javari Reserve is home to some 14 tribes living in total isolation, without any contact with the outside world. Their lifestyle might seem primitive, as it is only centered around agriculture. Several researchers continue to survey the thick greenery in search of other tribes and have counted a total population of 2,000. Authorities have reserved 77,000 square kilometers of Amazon forest for these people. This is to allow their lifestyle to persist.

Off the coast of Spain in the Balearic Islands, there is a rocky island called Es Vedrà. The third largest geomagnetic force in the world, after the Bermuda Triangle and the North Pole, can be found here. Based on explorations, the island doesn’t have any metal and is composed only of volcanic rock. On this clump of stones, technology has no power and a compass goes crazy. Many stories and legends surround the island. The Spanish Government hurried to prohibit access to it, stipulating that it was a nature reserve. It appears, however, that some of the locals occasionally organize secret visits to the island, for the most daring tourists. If you want keep things legal, just view the island with your eyes from the shore.
