A waitress pays the bill for 2 firemen, but they are the ones who really give the most beautiful gift...
Our two firefighters are named Paul Hullings and Tim Young, and they're from New Jersey!
On that day, they fought a fire for more than 12 hours before deciding, around 6 o'clock in the morning, to go have breakfast at a diner on the corner.
Once they finished their breakfast, Liz Woodward, the waitress who took care of them and had heard them talking about their difficult evening, approached them and instead of the check, she handed them this little message:
While reading the message, our two firefighters fought back their tears.
Being very touched by the message, Tim posted this on Facebook:
'Such a selfless and kind act. I definitely urge my friends to make a trip out and support the business, and if Liz happens to be your waitress, tip big.'
The story doesn't end there. A few days later, the firefighters learned that Liz's father, Steve, was a quadriplegic and has been paralyzed for nearly 5 years.
The young lady had even created a page to collect donations to buy a wheelchair accessible van, to be able to drive her dad where he needs to go!
Tim encouraged his friends to send donations to help the generous waitress:
'It turns out that the young lady who paid for our breakfast needs more help than we do...'
And the magic started quickly... Within a few days, $70,000 was collected, which was $53,000 more than the goal she set at the beginning ($17,000).
Liz and her family will never be able to thank both firefighters enough for what they've done:
'All I wanted was to pay for their breakfast. 'I didn't expect anything more than a smile, which goes to show that we have to be kind to each other and that even the smallest gestures can change a life.' says the waitress...
