We know a little more about the spin-off, since TVline has announced the name of the actor who should play the young Sheldon. It will be Iain Armitage, whom you may know if you've seen the new HBO series, “Big Little Lies.”
In fact, the young actor plays the role of Shailene Woodley’s son, Ziggy. In addition, the team working on this project - which still doesn’t have a name - also has an idea about who should play Sheldon's mother in the spin-off. It would be none other than Zoe Perry, the daughter of Laurie Metcalf, who plays Sheldon's mother in “The Big Bang Theory”!
For now, nothing is really official, since CBS hasn’t yet ordered the series, and the project is still in development. However, it already has three executive producers on board: Jim Parsons, Chuck Lorre, and Steve Molaro - who is a producer and writer on “The Big Bang Theory”. So, we'll have to wait a while before we know if the spin-off centered on Sheldon will actually come to light or not.
