He’s only 10 years old, but thanks to his invention, no more children will die from being left in a hot car!
First it was dogs. Now it’s children who are "forgotten" in vehicles in the heat of the day. In less than 20 years, more than 700 children have died from being left in hot cars in the United States, and the trend is on the rise. After a neighbor suffered this tragic fate, Bishop Curry, a 10-year-old boy from McKinney, Texas, came up with a tool that could revolutionize the safety of children.
This young boy invented the "Oasis." It is a small, intelligent gadget the size of a remote control and shaped like a big Lego. This device monitors the temperature inside the vehicle. If it reaches a certain limit, it automatically releases cool air, while also sending an alert to parents and authorities through an antenna.
Bishop came up with the idea for "Oasis" when his little 6-month old neighbor died in her parents’ car. Certainly, for now, it’s only a 3D clay prototype, but there’s hope that it could be produced and marketed very soon. So far, he and his father have raised just over $30,000 through GoFundMe, a crowdfunding website. The money raised will be used to file a patent for this invention and get the ball rolling on its manufacture.
If you support this cause and would like to help Bishop Curry, don’t hesitate to make a contribution. More information: GoFundMe
Since 1998, more than 700 children have died from being left in their parents’ hot cars, and the trend is on the rise.
One of them was Bishop Curry's neighbor. She was just six months old.
After this terrible news, the young man wanted to prevent other tragedies, so he created "Oasis," a life-saving device.
The concept monitors the temperature inside the car and automatically releases cool air when the temperature goes above a certain limit.
Thanks to an antenna, the device can also notify parents and authorities.
Over $30,000 has been raised so far, through a crowdfunding platform. The money raised will be used to finalize the patent and begin the manufacture of the device.
