Here's why you sometimes see floaters obstructing your vision... This is reassuring!
This type of vision, though very common, can be extremely unsettling. They're kind of transparent spots that move around in our field of vision, sort of as if there were insects floating in our eyes whenever we look back and forth. This phenomenon is quite normal and there is no reason to worry.
'Vitreous floaters' (or 'myodesopsia') are found in the back part of the eye (the vitreous humor). They are made up of protein masses or clusters of red blood cells or even tissue particles.
The presence of these floating objects slightly prevents light from entering the eye, and this creates a shadow on the retina. The phenomenon is absolutely normal, and in fact, it's completely part of normal eyesight. However, if it becomes very annoying, you should see your ophthalmologist.
