They were together on a beach, just before the war. 50 years later, they decided to reunite and take this picture, with tears in their eyes.
Bob Falk, Dennis Puelo, Tom Hanks (no, not the actor), and Bob DeVenezia are the 4 men you see in this photograph taken in 1966.
They were together at a military base in San Diego, but when the Vietnam War broke out, they were separated.
However, the horrors that they saw traumatized them to the point that they each decided to forget about that part of their lives.
Until the day Tom came across this photo from his youth while going through his things. He then made up his mind to make the same photo 50 years later.
And to do that, he had to find his three buddies whom he lost contact with long ago.
The 4 veterans agreed to play along, in order to immortalize the same pose from the days of their youth.
And although the quartet has aged 50 years, you can see how happy they are in this photo, when the old buddies finally got back together.
Although it wasn’t easy to arrange the reunion, none of them regret it. In fact, it’s quite the contrary. And Tom Hanks, the one who got the ball rolling on this story said, "This day was one of the happiest days of my life."
