Magalie Chailloleau has created a small accessory so that women can urinate while standing, like men. This Montpellier-based invention, that was created 3 years ago, has been sold over 50,000 times.

Biodegradable, disposable, compostable and made completely in a Montpellier, France factory, the "pisse-debout", or “stand and pee” by Magalie Chailloleau will be the first to be sold in major supermarkets. Currently, it is only distributed to certain Auchan stores, particularly in Marseille and in Velizy, France. If these trials are successful, the item could spread throughout France.

Here’s how the designer says she came up with this idea:

"There are a lot of us who have been jealous of men being able to urinate standing up. The "pisse-debout" is a great accessory for women who travel a lot or work outside. It allows women to avoid having to sit on public toilets, as many of them have questionable hygiene. [...] The real trigger is mostly psychological, notes Magalie Chailloleau. You just have to say that's it, we can urinate standing up! It's just a small device you blow up."
